Do you every wonder where supreme comes up with the stuff?
Well Im here to shed some light on the matter. The coveted brands Spring 2016 release is just around the corner so I decided to pick four garments from the line and give a little insight into the design inspiration. When it comes to clothing design, Supreme goes vintage shopping, as do most brands, to pull details from the past.
You don't have to go to far back to figure this leather rhinstone jacket out. In the late 90s and early 2000s many brands where producing similar jackets for the Urban market including Pelle Pelle, Avirex, Schott, Marc Echo and many more. These jackets where a huge status symbol as the price tags where super heavy.
I was super excited when I saw that Supreme is bringing the sequins back. These rhinestone patches where popular as far back as the 80s. You can find them in all the major car brands including BMW, Alpha Romeo, Rolls Royce etc. LA Gear used to kill the sequin game with spell out denim jackets.
Not two many brands dare bring back the 70s but Supreme definitely isn't scared. This shirt looks like something your dad wore to his high school dance. I think that its safe to say the Kramer of Seinfeld was the driving force behind this design. Who know for sure but Seinfeld is so hot right now.
Last up we have this crisp color black windbreaker reminiscent of the early 90s. Picture your grandmother speed walking her poodle around central park while gossiping to her girlfriends. I almost forgot, she's wearing a walkman.
I hope you enjoyed this insighful look into Supreme Spring 2016.
